Grand Teton National Park
This summer we went to Grand Teton National Park. It was an incredible place! The Tetons were unbelievable. (Hint for people who haven’t visited; It’s pronounced like Tee-tawn.)
The sunsets are good and the nighttime thunderstorms are amazing. A streak of lightning illuminates the entire range in the middle of the night. And in the day? Beautiful lakes mirror the mountains and forests perfectly…a lot better than most cameras can capture, LOL. The entire park is breathtaking.
My favorite thing we did there was Taggart Lake. While the name doesn’t really sound like an either inviting or astounding place, I have to say it was my favorite. It was slightly populous, but not too bad. (And, going to Yellowstone, it’s nearly all pretty crazy there no matter which secluded places you try.) We hiked up towards the range from the parking area- it wasn’t far, just a few miles round trip. It was really pretty the whole way- I thought it was magical. Once we got up to the lake, it was really quiet, too. All the groups talked a lot more softly than before. We didn’t see any wildlife besides the usual abundance of chipmunks and birds, but it was a really enjoyable hike, and me and my brother both really enjoyed it. The wildflowers were bountiful and vibrant, too! It was a really fun hike.
We had some full-timing friends who came up. They boondocked at Spread Creek until they could get a site at two different campgrounds they stayed at in the park during their time up there. Spread Creek was a really fun area, and we got to play in the creek, too, which was really fun!
Grand Teton was a really great place and my family loved it. I couldn’t believe it took us so long to get up there!
